A good idea
There is a personal question I have to ask. It has involved years of toil. Can we impose a “good idea” onto reality, or, can an idea happen only when it's time has come? .

Principles Philosophy Balance You can understand principles of living. You can reach certain conclusions about life. You can patiently wait for that perfect revelation. None of this necessarily works. Simply having some balance might be the answer. 421. Past
Principles Living No agenda Always an angle always a reason always a purpose. Not this time. I will appreciate with no agenda. 79.
Principles Principles Principles versus true harmony Usually when an issue arises I approach it with a mental handbag of do's and don'ts. When doing so the minute one senses a violation a judgment call is made and acted upon. Doing so gives the appearance of acting on principle, but actually you are cutting off the unfolding of life. Lately I engage a situation with no rulebook, no preconceived principle, no predigested scale of right and wrong. Then I let the situation play out naturally, and play my part but don't interfere. I use my common sense, experience, intuition, in general my humanity. As the situation reaches its conclusion, the ironic thing is usually one principle ends up standing out, but not how I would have thought. In ways unimaginable, the depth of experience itself emerged into a true harmony, not a man-made one. Past (06/04/13)
Principles Spirit Around 3 am There are some truisms shared orally from various religious and spiritual traditions that strike a chord. One of them is that the early morning hours, particularly around 3 am, are especially good times to receive insights, revelations, instructions, and for letting things in. It is dark, everything is still, the noise from the day in non-existent, and the mind is vulnerable and open. With time I've learned to value it. If able and up, by accident or not, one can meditate, make an appeal, or just be still. I've learned to use this time and if I become tired afterwards, I can rest and hopefully fall back to sleep. 24. Past (05/28/13)
Principles Mom/Dad Okay Boobala For many years I didn't see my mom that often. We lived 1200 miles apart. She passed away about a year ago. During the last 5 years she had been ill and the last two acutely so. What we had over the last period of time were phone visits, and there was a warmth and richness that had not previously been there. During one conversation she ended it by saying “Okay Boobala” and I felt myself melt in emotion. In meeting with a couple who were friends of a friend during this time, they were talking about the lack of quality of life for the old and ill. Why live in pain was their mantra. I said maybe so, but maybe there is still a reason for my mom to have hung on. After all, I was able to hear “Okay Boobala.” Past (05/20/13) Principles Metaphysics A Leap of Faith When one criticizes the unseen world as not factual, as opposed to science which is factual, they commit an error. They claim they just believe in the cold facts, and solid logic rather than having faith in the unseen. However, this faith in the cold facts is also a belief. How so you might ask? Well, the base of all reason is logic, and logic is mathematical. The base of mathematics is the equation, where something equals something else or it doesn't. Here lies the fallacy. Nothing in this world exactly equals another thing. No penny exactly equals another penny, no leaf another leaf, and no pencil another pencil. We agree on equality because it is a useful concept, practically and ideally. How could we exchange money fairly if not for this? But it is a concept, not a reality. And this concept requires belief and faith even though it is not an actuality. So you see it follows that all belief and trust in anything requires a leap of faith. Comment 05/22/13 Writing 21, A Leap of Faith Note: This is not really related to my point, but it's a truism, in that math and it's application can have a beauty of its own. I must also note though, at this point beauty is not enough. Marty Math is everything and explains everything. Physicists are the most brilliant of all. Did you know Pluto or Uranus (I forgot which one) was discovered by math. The orbit of the other planets were off mathematically and those studying it were knew by math the other planet had do exist to explain the gravitational pull and were then able to start looking for it just where the math said it would be. Principles Nature Nature and Morbidity My father, upon commenting on my mom's deteriorating health, said referring to her “her body is falling apart. It's almost morbid. It seems nature does its own thing. It does what it wants regardless of what you think. Nature is sometimes okay, but it has its own agenda.” This is from a man, who at other times was enamored with the body and marveled at its workings. Present (5/20/13)
Principles Living Engagement At some point one has to engage in life, experience all facets of human experience. This doesn't mean you should go sky diving, but it does mean the whole range of human existence is there to be had. It all doesn't need to be fully experienced. Rather, a taste, a feel could be enough. You'll fill up with what you need. Life can be sad. Why? Because even the nice times, the comfortable times, end. When we engage life we can feel this in a million different ways. The conclusion is the same, but we become rich with experience and can accept this sadness. Whether this happens at first in your life, later, gradually, it should just happen. The amount is not what we are after, but the attitude and quality is. With this attitude of engagement we can leap to engage what is beyond. Past (05/06/13) Principles Living Wheels and teeth When I was traveling in Oregon, camping out in an RV, and doing light industrial work, I ran across a man who was living in his car. Originally he was from Greece, than Long Island, then Oregon. He painted cars for a living, was in his forties and was in trouble. His teeth had gone bad, costing him thousands to fix. He lost his job, and his car was giving him trouble. I said at some point “wheels and teeth are two things that can take us out.” He concurred and said “wheels and teeth.” 05/13/13 Writing 15. Writing 14. Takes Writing 16. On the Edge of the Bed Lisa, Hi Steve! I appreciated your recent postings. The one on Wheels and teeth and the Takes.. When I did read the one on "the takes", it reminded me that my brain is like a kaleidoscope, pulling me in different directions. If I listen carefully to my inner drill sergeant, just maybe I can guide myself to making decisions in a more stress-free way. I just try and not panic; and trust myself and be confident. I had one of those good decisions days today. I need to journal, so I can have more like them; then I can be more productive. |
