Read a recent article on Stoicism, seen as a useful way to approach life. A Stoic would say 'it rained today' as opposed to 'it rained today and that is bad.' The universe is indifferent here and the best approach to it is to be objective and just see how it works. Throughout the day self-made disciplines and habits reinforce this 'detachment.' Interesting.
Then there are the 'Lifers' for lack of an official term. Life is seen as a 'ride' sometimes with emotion, sometimes not. There is love, dreaming, passions, stories, drama, and also removal, isolation, and even detachment. You go through it all. If we tack on the knowledge of a maker, it is distant and way in the background.
Then there are those who accept there is a maker, a God, who is sometimes interacting with your life on all levels, and sometimes very removed and distant. One flitters back and forth, always somewhat not sure which is which. Is God here right now or is this just life?
Then there is just God, period. Here God is seen in everything and all is orchestrated. It could be like a puzzle with each piece having its predesigned place. Or, if life has a life of its own, even this somehow is a piece of the puzzle and not without design. All things here lead to God in someway or another. Even your need to distance yourself from God serves God.
These all can be seen as different lenses to see existence through. You can pick one to stay in or try them all. Or, they can all been seen as a kind of an 'evolution' to the last.
