Pleasing the Senses

To live fully one needs spiritual fulfillment but one needs the senses pleased as well.    Nice music can be so pleasing to the senses.  It is relaxing, calming, and peaceful.  A nice radio voice can also soothe one's emotions and give harmony to  your senses.  These things should  be recognized when occasioned upon. They provide momentary relief from the harshness of the world and recall a sense harmony.  Music, as well as a nicely enunciated phrase, massages the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being.

Read the site and there are real insights here. Have to go out for a while so can't post now but I do recall our listening to great music on WQXR and PBS whenever we could. Don't remember quite how long we eschewed TV -but it was several years. So we honed our taste for beautiful music while we drew, or painted or read. I remember art books strewn around the floor of our studio, drinking copious amounts of tea and then listening to BAI for company. I miss public radio but I listen a lot to Sirius/xm in the car and at home. Several very nice classical stations but sometimes I listen so long I hear the loop start all over again.

Just a thought.

Note: Maggie and I were married in our 20's. Following is summary of brief exchange. She's a bright woman.

boy u bring back memories...everything is indelible...I think I used to sleep on the couch sometimes and who was that QXR or mc something commentator..he had the nicest voice and it would give me some peace....can't remember his name but he is actually who I had in mind when writing.....James or something ..... love the image you put forth..art books on floor and bai......I have a smile on my face and i'm back in the past....not up on Sirius. do what you can.

Maggie wrote back...
Was it Bob Sherman or Ed Downs? I remember downs because u had him as a music prof at Queens in the late 60s. George Edwards was also in at that time.

Later I wrote to paraphrase:
Just got up from tossing and turning and the name occurred to me.....Fleetwood.....don't believe I remembered it. amazing. when I slept on couch his voice would give me some peace and kind of put a halo around manhattan. wow.
