Sometimes while working I keep the TV on and this time a survival show was on the screen. It might have been about mountain climbers, I forget the specifics. Anyhow, at first the tension and competition between the men was apparent, all egos wanting to be the best, and in charge. After conditions put them all at risk, it became less man versus man and more about man versus the forces of nature that seemed out to eliminate them. Egos, ugly personalities, all became subsurvient to the need just to live, and life was simplified to life versus non-life.
