My good friend R has pancreatic cancer. Is this a case of bad things happening to good people? Or, as my friend Rick said, “we are all responsible for our own actions and there is a reason for everything?” Karma also can decide this. If the latter, how tough can we be? We all have blind spots which can come out of nowhere to surprise us. Maybe there is some minor comfort in the saying “there is a reason for everything.”

Your friend with cancer. Maybe it's just as simple as not everything needs a reason or cause. Maybe just as simple as shit happens. Cells divide and the millions of times leads to errors that result in cancerous ones that are faster growing. Maybe there is a reason for that that we just don't understand. Maybe it's as simple as nature limiting population.

actually friend died two years ago but thanks anyhow. still think of her.

what you say is a consideration. I don't know if its exactly nature limiting

population. More like payback for over industrialization. Can't turn the whole

world into plastic without some side effects, which, I guess, is part of nature.
