Proof and acceptance

Proof and acceptance

In this plane of existence the truth can be approached, reasonably ascertained, even known but it cannot be proven.  While the truth in its absolute state is pure and consistent, on this plane, it can only be a reasonably sure thing but not an absolute.  Whatever we do here is tainted, so all we can do is suspect there is a truth, but we can't prove it.    Nothing can be absolutely proven.  We can arrive at truth beyond a reasonable doubt, but it is not written in stone.

Even the equation one equals one can't be proven.  We have to accept it on faith and proceed and build upon it.  Nothing in the universe totally equals something else.  There is no such thing.  We accept equality because it is convenient, and in good faith use it as a premise, but we can't prove it.

Truth

We jockey for position, and then define our beliefs in contrast to what others believe.  Our belief partly comes from our experience, partly from a combination of other various beliefs all tied together.

In reality the truth is so vast and all-encompassing that compared to what we believe, our only honest response should be one of humility.

Little truths

Small little truths that we run across confirm in us something bigger.  If, say, I honestly share a mini-realization I had and it rings true for you too something inside is confirmed that was already inside you.  You suspected that it might be true but weren't sure.  Here someone else is bringing it to the light and you are not alone in what you see.  You are not isolated. Your secret truth is shared by another.  Whether through difficulties or even some joys, or just by observing we have both been there and touched something similar.  Such little truths build and accumulate  to bigger truths.  In a sense they build a structure of truth.  In another sense by just seeing little truths we earn our way to trust what is big and true.  We experience a brief sense of peace and can rest in what lies beneath everything. In this way life connects us, even if just for a moment, to the biggest truths; that there is a reason for it all, that beyond all our doubts there really even might be a God.

Where we are

We can't know the full truth against pure light.  Our truth would all look muddy.  So while wanting truth is a need too much truth would imbalance us.  The space between the truth and our muddiness is where we are.  It's called life.

Seeking truth

Seeking truth

The only permanent truth that can be found that is the truth is ephemeral and slightly beyond our grasp to perceive.  It is true but we only receive a glimmer of it.  It can't be proven or grasped, just sensed.

All other 'truths' are like changing sands or waves on the ocean.  They are constantly shifting and changing, seemingly true for this instant but different for the next.  To seek the truth in this existence is expecting too much.  I have learned this the hard way.  The truth of this situation or that situation will always have an equal opposite that also holds some truth.  And it will shift and change gears.  Any hard effort to capture and preserve it won't last.

This is not to say in this life some things are more workable for a time.  These things closely reflect how the natural world works and can be beneficial to follow.  Some systems of thought and procedures do parallel the reality of life and can work in life.   But even these 'truths' are temporary.  They might have wisdom and craft and tradition and principle and time to back their case, but they still are not whole and will disappoint if held on too tightly or too long.

This is why there is less and less to say in life.  One begins to see the cracks and flaws in what one believes.  One also sees the validity of alternate views that also make sense.  And the only consistent truth that can be held onto to is in another realm always slightly beyond our reach.

All this can be learned from a life that seems to work or a life that doesn’t seem to work.  Either way it is the truth.

Satisfying

Satisfying

When physically bothered recently by sinus difficulties I called up a neighbor who had similar problems and asked if they were feeling it.  The winds, pollens, gmo crops, grasses, spores, and molds build up at times and affect me along with others having a similar affliction.  Checking with someone else at least lets me know I am not being singled out and what I'm going through is in the normal realm, somewhat.

My friend spent about 10 seconds saying they are always bothered (not really a real answer) and then spoke about dressing and looking well.  Hardly the response I wanted.

Is it Florida?  A bunch of loose ends gathered in one place?  Or is it all over?  Or am I just out of the loop, outside the circle of balance and harmony in human relations that offers healthy and helpful responses?  Sometimes I receive a good response, often from a stranger, but I can't count on it.

Everyone is pushing beyond their scope, defending their turf, careful not to give up any ground, somewhat curious and needy but not willing to lose any control.

And while we quibble, not to sound paranoid, but I suspect the powers that be consolidate their position using confusion and red tape and doublespeak and allow the lowest levels of society to whittle away at what is left.

Oh, to find my way through this, with or without a friend.  To find a way to get and stay on course and know that it is so.  To find clarity and good vision in the middle of the fog.  To see what is true amidst all the lies and compromises.  That would be satisfying, truly satisfying.

Organizing around the truth

Organizing around the truth

All organizing around truth will be flawed.  If the truth is absolute but our individual perceptions of it vary, we will all have slight differences.  Hence we won't be of one accord and our visions will differ.  At one point, this will cause division and conflict.

Losing their power

All  the secretive disciplines and societies are revealing their secrets today.  The Masons were on television with their secretive rituals discussed. The ancient martial arts are all
over the place like canned soup.  Ancient mysteries are being opened up, and revealed, as are ancient religions.  We are also seeing all their disparities. Their cobwebs are being exposed to the light.  Some of the societies and disciplines are doing it willingly.  Why?  Perhaps because the truth has begun to allude them and pass them by.  They are no longer where it is to be found, and as with jealous siblings, they jump up and down and
parade themselves wanting to regain their foothold as supposed guardians of the truth.

Steven B. Nussdorf records his lifelong search to find meaning outside of the normal channels.  He  uses writing, poetry, and drawing to document this effort.

Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
