Adorable
I decided to multitask chores with a quick walk on the beach for sun and exercise. The house felt like a trap and certain problems weighed upon me. I returned sweatpants at Beals for a larger size. It was time for a better look. Beals had no tight bathing suits so I checked Goodwill for some but they too were all baggy and not grouped by size. At the Ace hardware store nice James in the paint department mixed a gallon of Platinum colored paint so I could finish off my allergy free concrete floors. Next was onto Home Depot to buy a couple of rug mats to protect my computer and drawing chair from scraping the paint off the concrete floor. So far things were moving along.
At the beach the walk went well. I dipped in the clear water, watching out for rip currents and kept an eye on my valuables. The sand was soggy and I noticed my hip joint was still somewhat weak still after two months so I took my time walking. Afterwards I stopped by an empty Sushi place for their $5 special of 8 roles. It was a treat since I stay away from rice these days. I asked to sit outside but they said it was a take out deal but then let me. They were foreign and not overly friendly.
On the trip home my mind was trying to be positive but was having trouble doing so. Recently the price of gold went down which affected me and my last drawing was not fully successful. I managed to salvage it because I would crop the part that was least successful. Still, it was another sign that the way I drew from observation might be coming to an end.
The previous night I had gotten a call from S who was in the area and asked to drop by. She rarely was in my neighborhood so I welcomed her visit. The story was she had run across someone in my area, an older widow, with her same last name and they went out for dinner together and she posted the photo on facebook. Recently a mural she did for a local school recently fogged over from a faulty application of a sealer and she wasn't able to sleep from this. She asked to see my latest drawing and after doing so claimed she couldn't tell the leg was a leg and she really didn't understand it. She suggested I introduce a surrealist element to my work and had no other words. Her silence said how she felt.
The chore beach trip distracted me from my worries but didn't cure them. Then about 2 miles from my home I looked up at the sky and there was a delightful display of clouds. They were small, all with adorable shapes like puppies with tails, one after another. All were delicate and perfect and as said adorable. I smiled from the inside out.
Who would think that natures 'adorable' was the answer Things were not so serious. Just the privilege of being alive and living and experiencing this life is the victory no matter how things work out. After all, I can say, we can say, we know what it is to live this life.
