Spiritual living

The process seems to be
I have to touch bottom
as if emptied out
and then and only then
is a lifeline sent.

Observations Small things I recently was contacted over Facebook by a friend I haven't seen for over 36 years. For the last year or so we have been in touch. He stated he had a rough weather weekend in California. He said that it poured and he was up all of Saturday night worrying if the new construction on his house was going to leak. It held up perfectly and he was able to do the drywall. Little victories and preoccupations help get us through the day was his final comment. Hmmm. I answered that he was so right about little things. I told him of a friend's father who died a long time ago at 63 years of age, and his last thoughts had to do with household plumbing. Apparently the day to day particulars kept him going too. I also realized my dad did many day to day chores with no great payoff. I appreciated this quality late in my life. At the very least it helps us survive another day. Furthermore it takes pressure off the more ambitious pursuits, focusing us on what is small but necessary. 301.
Spiritual living Where you are at We run across items, articles, computer stuff, that reminds us of what we could have done, or what we weren't able to do. Different pieces of the puzzle start to fit, not always in our favor. This is painful for a time. What is helpful is to remember we can't be in two places at once. When we are feeling our lack it is hard to be feeling well. You might end up going to bed amid this feeling of deprivation, incompleteness. Somehow, maybe after some sleep, there is some relief. It is not a conscious choice however, it just happens. It is a kind of lifting without any effort. You see the bigger picture. Who you were, who you are, it's all you. And then you proceed for what seems to be the path forward even if it seems somewhat foggy and unclear. It's just where you are at, even if it's muddy, and there is a light around that too. 300. Past
Reason for writing Private conclusions can't stand alone Life brings up many questions. It’s as if there is a riddle to be solved. Answers are needed. After many years of pondering these matters, I would like to share what I have arrived at, or, put another way, what I am left with. All has been stripped and honed down with time. Naturally, there is a need to reach out to others for confirmation and support. It is not always enough to have your private conclusions. Comments to others, whether listened to or not, complete the process. It can be nourishing and reaffirming. People can be even helpful. If they oppose what you are saying, it still can refine their thinking or yours. Since I am no longer young, my words and drawings have a chance to reach out beyond my immediate parameters. 299. Past
Principles Living and life Just a story? Is there a story to my life or is that just wishful thinking? The hard times and the struggles, the lacks and the without take on a meaning with a story. But does a story really exist or is it just a story? 298. Past Principles Living and life Simple life I value a simple life but all I see is complexity whose knots I can't untangle. |
